Health reform has already benefited young adults by allowing those under age 26 to obtain health insurance coverage under their parents’ policies — a feature that is providing coverage to more than 3 million young adults. Recent Census data showed that the share of 18- to 24-year-olds without health insurance coverage fell from 25.8 percent in 2011 to 24.3 percent in 2012. This marked the second straight year that the uninsured rate for this group has fallen, and it’s now down 5.2 percentage points since 2010.
