The GOP's Worst Nightmare

The GOP has spent the better part of three years opposing the Affordable Care Act, more commonly known as Obamacare. Now their worst nightmare is about to come true. According to federal regulations regarding federally funded programs people who inquire about how to sign up for healthcare can also sign up to vote.

As reported in Mother Jones
The 1993 National Voter Registration Act (NVRA), known as the Motor Voter law, says that DMVs and other state agencies that provide public assistance have to provide voter registration services. The Obama administration has said that means that both the state-run exchanges, and the federally-run exchanges that are being rolled out in states where Republican governors have refused to set them up, will have to comply with the Motor Voter law.
Once people beginning signing up for healthcare through the state run exchanges and realize how badly they were lied to by those opposing the healthcare law having also the opportunity to register vote in that very moment could be a devastating blow to state GOP voter roles. Of course simply signing up to vote and registering to vote does not automatically translate into an electoral advantage, but knowing this information this puts into clearer context the rabid approach those opposing Obamacare have been taking.
