Another child shot with a gun they found...
Huntsville police responded to a 5-year-old child who had been shot in the hand around 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning.Officers made contact at Huntsville Hospital East with the boy and his mother. Authorities said the gunshot wound was in the boy’s left hand. Police investigated the apartment in Mason Court where they said the shooting occurred.

Democracy Corps – a Democratic-leaning polling firm – released a study this week based on a series of focus groups they conducted with loyal Republican voters. They divided them up into three sub-groups which together represent the base of the party. Evangelicals represent the largest group, followed by Republicans who identify with the tea party movement. “Moderates,” the third group, make up about a quarter of the party’s base, according to the pollsters.
California to lead the way in changes to immigration prosecutions
For the second time now, there’s a crucial bill called the Trust Act sitting before California Governor Jerry Brown for approval. The bill would essentially put a halt to the way that immigrants are targeted and criminalized for deportation under a program called Secure Communities. That program grew into a major cog of the federal government’s deportation machine—largely under the leadership of Janet Napolitano, who headed the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). But Napolitano has left Washington and is currently enjoying an appointment as the head of the University of California. And now, she’s told a group of students that she supports the Trust Act.
